All day on Saturday in the northwest part of Wichita, Love Your Community is hosting its annual Free Community Event. "Love Your Community" president Angel Martinez says it's a chance to bring people together, and providing people with information and resources empowering them to move forward. The event started two years ago with about 80 volunteers; this year's event will proceed with about 700 volunteers.

Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-noon, there will be a free neighborhood clean-up of the Evergreen neighborhood near 25th & Arkansas, and the Delano neighborhood. Martinez says during the previous two years of this event, volunteers collected about 40 tons of trash.

Saturday from 2:00-3:00 p.m., there will be a parade from Nomar to Evergreen.

Folling that is the block party until 10:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Recreation Center in the 2700 block of N. Woodland, featuring a car show, resource fair, scavenger hunt, talent show, and dodgeball tournament. There will also be free ice cream, free haircuts, free hamburgers, a food drive, a concert, Zumba, a taco contest, a clothing giveaway, and a cultural expo.
