Former Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer spoke out Wednesday in favor of political newcomer Patrick Penn in the Kansas 85th District GOP House primary race.

Colyer saying state Rep. Michael Capps should be disqualified, citing allegations from the Wichita Mayor's race.  "We're seeing issues the Wichita Eagle has shown us about the Mayor's race.  We're seeing people claiming that he claims endorsements that were never given to him," Colyer said.

Responding to Colyers comments Rep. Capps told KNSS News that the people of the 85th District "deserve a representative who will unapologetically fight for concretive values.

"I'm not interested in winning any swamp popularity contest," Capps said.  "That's why I'll never stop fighting for life at all states, defend our 2nd Amendment, and stop Governor Kelly's radical liberal agenda dead in its tracks," Capps added.

The winner of the Republican primary will face Democrat Marcey Gregory, a former Goddard mayor, in the general election.
