(NEW YORK) -- Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, the God of Thunder, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his three kids -- twin boys and a little girl --  told him they want to be Wonder Woman for Halloween.

“I said, ‘That’s awesome, but what about Thor?’ At the same time they went, ‘No,’” Hemsworth told Good Morning America Monday. “I went, ‘Who’s stronger?’ They said, 'Wonder Woman.'”

Hemsworth allowed, “I’m happy to play second to Wonder Woman.”

Marvel Studios' third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok, is enjoying a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and much of the movie's critical acclaim spawns from its off-kilter humor. Director Taika Waititi gets the credit for that, Hemsworth says.

"It was the first thing, when Taika and I spoke about it, I said, 'I'm sick of me,' and he said, 'Yeah, I'm sick of you, too.' The 'me' is this character...Every day if it felt familiar, we just went in a different direction. Huge improvisations..."

However, one of the movie's biggest jokes came from a visitor to the set.  In a scene, Thor's in a gladiator ring, nervously anticipating his unseen foe, only to happily learn it's his Avengers buddy, The Hulk. And the punchline?

"We had a young Make a Wish kid on set that day...and he was just throwing us suggestions," Hemsworth recalled. "And he said, 'Why don't you say, 'We know each other! He's a friend from work!' And ends up being the best line in the movie!'"

Thor: Ragnarok features a star-studded cast including Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett. The movie opens November 3 from Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News.
