AUGUSTA, Kan. (KNSS) – Law enforcement in Butler County has made an arrest in a hit-and-run case that resulted in the death of an Augusta man.  Just after 4 a.m. on May 13th the body of 38-year-old Jared Wright was found near the intersection of 140th and Tawakoni Road.  After an investigation Butler County authorities determined that the accident had happened near Yorktown and U.S. 54 and Wright had been moved to the scene where his body was found, six miles away.

Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet tells KSN News on Thursday that 33-year-old Virginia Moore was arrested in connection to the hit and run.  Sheriff Herzet says the sheriff's office got a tip from someone who said they hadn't seen their neighbor's car since the accident.  Another tip said that there was a windshield repair company working at that same address.

Authorities investigating those tips identified Moore as a suspect in the case.  She was arrested on suspicion of second degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.
