A two-month-old boy has died as the victim of child abuse, six days after police were called to his home in S. Wichita. The little boy's name was Marrell Williams.

Early on the afternoon of Friday, January 10, police responded to assist EMS at a home south of Pawnee & Broadway, in the 2800 block of S. Emporia, where Marrell Williams was not breathing. The baby was hospitalized in critical condition, but died from his injuries on Thursday.

The baby boy had newer and older critical injuries, and his twin sister was recovering from a broken femur. In addition, a one-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl were in the home unharmed; those two children are now in police protective custody.

The boy's father, 22-year-old Marlin Williams, was originally apprehended for three counts of aggravated battery, but murder charges will now likely be added to his case.

This is the fifth murder case in Wichita already this year, including two child-abuse deaths in just a matter of days.
