Boil water advisories for several areas in south central Kansas

May 10, 2019 - 10:46 am

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for the City of Augusta and Sumner County Rural Water District 3, which includes Wellington. Officials issued Augusta the advisory  because of a line break resulting in a loss of pressure and Sumner County because of a loss of pressure. Loss of pressure can lead to bacterial contamination.  Wellington U-S-D 353 closed for the day due to the advisory.
Boil advisories are also in effect for the City of Augusta and Sedgwick County Rural Water District 3. If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears. Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
