Camp Aldrich cabin damaged by fire

August 10, 2018 - 10:34 pm

Fire destroyed a cabin at a popular summer camp for kids.  It happened around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning at Camp Aldrich, northeast of Great Bend, near Claflin.

Officials said no injuries were reported, and the camp was not in use at the time.

Fire crews remained on the scene putting out hot spots.  Investigators believe electrical problems may have played a part in the fire.

Trail's End Lodge was the only cabin that was damaged, which included 40 beds.

Camp Hope, a non-profit whose goal is to improve the health of children and adolescents with cancer, takes place each June at Camp Aldrich.
