Car collides with van in W. Wichita; several hospitalized

A car hit a transportation van in W. Wichita, sending several people to the hospital.

It happened Tuesday afternoon west of Central & West Street, when a Saturn Ion collided with the van at St. Louis & Young.

Eight people between the ages of 22 and 62 were in the van; the driver suffered minor injuries. The passengers in the van were all hospitalized, treated, and released.

The van was a transportation vehicle for a business providing services for clients with physical and mental disabilities.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old girl, was booked into the Juvenile Detention center for DUI/drugs, running a stop sign, an an outstanding arrest warrant. A 23-year-old man was also in the car, and he was booked into jail, also on an outstanding warrant.
