Chase Suspect Identified

December 01, 2017 - 1:08 pm

Wichita police have identified the man that led them on a chase in the north part of the city Thursday morning. Larry D. Triplett, 18, was already wanted for the shooting death of Timothy Golden in July of 2017. Two other men have already been arrested in connection with that crime.

Police received a tip that Triplett was hiding out in a home near 34th and Arkansas. When they tried to contact him, he and a female fled in a car, leading police on a chase.

At one point, he let the female passenger out of the car. Police have located her and she is in custody.

Near 24th and Market, Triplett ran into a car driven by a female, and then crashed into a utility pole, breaking it and causing a power outage for about 1500 Westar customers for much of the morning.

The woman in the car received minor injuries.

Police spokesman Charley Davidson says Triplitt was booked for aggrevated battery, criminal carrying of a weapon, fleeing and alluding, resisting arrest, traffic charges, felony murder, and warrants.
