"Clear the Shelters" event successful

August 18, 2018 - 7:00 pm

Saturday's "Clear the Shelters" event has been a success at participating animal shelters across Kansas.

The Kansas Humane Society, the Salina Animal Shelter and the Golden Belt Humane Society in Great Bend waived adoption fees just for Saturday for those wishing to adopt shelter animals.

The Golden Belt Humane Society in Great Bend only had a few dogs and cats left up for adoption after the event kicked off at 10:00 Saturday morning.

All of the Salina Animal Shelter's dogs were adopted, and only a few cats are still left for adoption.

The lines were long at the Kansas Humane Society where more than 100 animals were available for adoption at the start of the event.

The Clear the Shelters event ended at 2:00 Saturday afternoon in Great Bend and Salina. However, the Kansas Humane Society held their adoption event until 6:30 in the evening.
