Alcides Escobar was not in the Kansas City Royals' lineup on Sunday for the first time since 2015 as the struggling club made a plethora of moves. Escobar had started 421 consecutive games, the longest streak in the majors, before Royals manager Ned Yost benched him against the Boston Red Sox.

The Kansas City Royals announced today the signing of Japanese 16-year old pitcher Kaito Yuki.  The Osaka, Japan native just completed his junior high season in May and chose to sign a professional contract with the Royals over attending high school. Yuki, is a 6-2, 170 lb. right-handed pitcher who was born on May 12, 2002.
