El Dorado Correctional Facility re-hiring previously fired employees

In efforts to alleviate a staffing shortage the El Dorado Correctional Facility is hiring back employees who they previously had fired.

The prison is still considered to have a critical shortage of uniformed officers. KSN News spoke with El Dorado Correctional Warden Sam Cline says they are not considering former employees let go for "serious violations."

"Contraband issue, or abuse of an offender, or involving a DUI, or a drug problem on the street, that individual won't be invited back," said Warden Cline. "But for somebody that's genuinely wanting to try again, that left on fairly mild issues that they promise to correct if they get another chance, why we're glad to talk to those individuals."

El Dorado Correctional has been short-staffed by as many as 95 corrections officers. As of this week that number is down to 78. El Dorado Correctional, like other prisons in the state, remains at maximum capacity.
