Kansas City Police say Jansen walked into the police department on Friday morning and reported his daughter Olivia missing. He told officers the last time he saw her was 11 p.m. Thursday when he went to bed.

He woke up at 5:30 a.m. Friday and she was gone, with the door of the house open. He reported her missing about three hours later. The disappearance triggered a statewide AMBER Alert.

KCK Police said the body was found about 5:45 p.m. Friday, about nine blocks from her home near Interstate 635 after getting a tip of a reported body off a trail. Police are fairly certain it is the young girl.

Spokesman Tom Tomasic said that they will hold the person responsible for the crime accountable.

On Saturday morning, Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick, 33, was also held on suspicion of first-degree murder and child abuse.
