WICHITA, Kan.(KNSS) - The FBI is investigating a possible cover up of a crime committed by a Wichita Police officer while off duty.

The incident happened back in September 2016 when a woman called 911 saying that her car had been side swiped and the other driver refused to stop.

The Wichita Police Department has acknowledge that the driver who drove off was one in fact of their own.
The FBI has issued subpoenas to high ranking officials within the Wichita Police Department who claim that the accusations of a cover-up are "based on a flawed premise and are inaccurate."

Leaving the scene of an accident where there is property damage is a misdemeanor in Kansas.
