TOPEKA, Kan. (KNSS) - A house fire in north Topeka has been ruled an arson.  According to a release the fire was reported before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on NW Eugene St. in Topeka.

Crews on arrival found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of a single-story house.  Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

The single story house had nearly $16,000 in damages.  Investigators from the Topeka Fire Department determined the fire had been intentionally set.  Topeka Fire Chief Mike Martin says no one was inside the house when the fire started and no injuries were reported.
