WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - Range-burning is going on in the Flint Hills of Kansas to the northeast of Wichita, and smoke from those fires could be making its way into the Wichita area late Thursday evening and throughout Friday.

Baylee Cunningham. an Air Quality specialist with the City of Wichita, says smoke can negatively impact air quality, and it could cause the city to go out of compliance with federal clean-air standards.

Anyone with asthma or with respiratory issues is encouraged to limit prolonged outdoor exertion on Friday.

Updates on air quality may be found on the city of Wichita's Facebook page, or through Air Aware Kansas on Twitter and Instagram.
