Gunfire not far from downtown Wichita, east of Kellogg & Washington.

At about 8:45 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Lewis & Pattie to the report of a suspicious character with a weapon. Police encountered 48-year-old Kerry Ordway. They say was having a "mental-health crisis"; he was outside yelling, firing a shotgun into the air. The man went back inside the house.

After negotiations, the man with the gun exited his home after about an hour; he was arrested. Through the investigation, officers located several handguns, a shotgun, and a black-powder rifle inside the home.

The suspect was booked into jail for criminal discharge of a firearm.
