Guns & drugs & social media: teen apprehended in SW Wichita

Wichita police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruct.
At midnight Thursday, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team executed a search warrant at a home on 31st Street South, east of West Street.
The search warrant was in reference to an ongoing investigation of the teenager living at the home posting photos on social media with guns and drugs. The investigation revealed the teen was previously convicted of felony charges.
Upon the execution of the search warrant, the 17-year-old refused to exit the home. A police K9 unit assisted on the warrant, and the teenager was arrested with the assistance of the K9. The teen was transported to a hospital and treated for minor injuries from a dog bite.
Inside the home, officers recovered multiple handguns, a rifle, gun parts, gun magazines, ammunition, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and cash.
