HESSTON, Kan. (KNSS) – Excel Industries told employees on Wednesday about plans of reorganization that will include layoffs at their Hesston plant.

KSN News reports that first and second shift workers were told to accept a FedEx delivery on Thursday that contains a letter that states if the employee will be laid off in the downsizing.

In a statement, the company said: “Excel Industries, Inc. today will inform employees about a reorganization that includes a workforce reduction at its Hesston manufacturing facility. The company will issue a formal statement regarding the restructuring on June 22 after impacted employees have been officially notified.”

The company plans to issue a formal statement on Thursday after employees have received their official notice.

In 2016 the Excel plant in Hesston was the site of a workplace shooting where four people were killed and fourteen others were injured by a gunman.
