Hoax bomb threats reported across Kansas

December 13, 2018 - 10:33 pm

Police in Wichita are investigating eight bomb threats.  In Barton County at least thirteen were made, and several more throughout the state through email and phone calls.

While a majority of those threats are considered to be hoaxes, local and state law enforcement agencies are investigating.

Police officer Paul Cruz tells KSN News, officers were sent to several locations.  "All I can tell you is that we've received phone calls to 911 to reference threats that were made. And at this point we have determined these threats have been unfounded," said Cruz.

In Marion County the Hillsboro Community Hospital received a threat. Reno County Sheriff, Randy Henderson says Hutchinson Police also was dealing with a bomb threat.

It's not known if the threats made in Kansas are connected to others across the country.  Police say there is no cause for alarm, but should you believe there is a legitimate threat, don't hesitate to call 9-1-1.
