Jayhawks Hold On To Win The Sunflower Showdown

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KNSS) — Malik Newman hit the go-ahead foul shots with 15 seconds left and K-State’s last second desperation three pointer fell just short as it hit the rim giving the twelfth ranked Jayhawks a 73-72 victory in the Sunflower Classic.

Guard play was big for the Wildcats as Cartier Diarra scored 18 points to go along with 4 rebounds.  Xavier Sneed added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Barry Brown Jr. contributed 12 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.

K-State forward Dean Wade led all Wildcats with 22 points to go along with his 6 rebounds.  

Devonte’ Graham paced the Jayhawks with 22 points while big man Udoka Azubuike added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  It was the Jayhawks 12th straight victory over the Wildcats.
