K-254 could be safer with increased law enforcement, according to KDOT

March 23, 2019 - 12:17 am

The Kansas Department of Transportation believes that increasing law enforcement along K-254 will reduce incidents on that expressway.

This recommendation comes after a study with data from 2014 to 2018. Additional signage to improve safety will also be installed.

The study found that the average speeds on K-254 were about 71 miles per hour. The speed limit is 70.

During a meeting in Bel Aire by the K-254 Corridor Development Association, other ideas provided by community members included stop lights, traffic signals and constructing overpasses.

Be on the lookout for a law enforcment saturation that is planned for K-254, from Wichita to El Dorado, April 12-14.
