Kansas gasoline prices below national average

WICHITA, Kan. (KNSS) - Average prices for gas in Kansas rose significantly this week, increasing to $2.17 a gallon. Those numbers released by AAA Kansas.  Jennifer Haugh with Triple A says this is due to a number of factors.

"A higher demand, people are still hitting the road for those last minute vacations before school starts," said Haugh.  "And we've kind of worked down on our backlog of crude, so we're finishing off some of that stuff and we're not replenishing it at the same rate."

Haugh says Kansas is still doing well relative to the rest of the nation at fifteen cents below the national average.  Average price in Wichita this morning is $2.15 a gallon.
