Kansas GOP has new leader

The Kansas Republican party has a new chairman.

At the GOP's annual meeting Saturday, leaders selected Overland Park lawyer Michael Kuckelman as the party's new leader.

Kuckelman succeeds Kelly Arnold, who had served as the party's leader for the past six years. During the first four years of Arnold's leadership, Republicans swept statewide and congressional races, but lost the Governor's race and 3rd Congressional District seat to Democrats Laura Kelly and Sharice Davids in the 2018 election cycle.

Kuckelman promised members of the Republican Party he will work to build unity within the party and improve voter turnout in future elections.
