TOPEKA, KAN. (KNSS) - The Kansas Secretary of State's office tweeted that District 10 Kansas House member Democrat John Wilson of Lawrence officially submitted his resignation effective Friday afternoon. Wilson announced his intent to step down before his colleagues in the Legislature in June.

"This is a decision I don't take lightly," said Wilson. "Now is actually a really great time to be in the legislature, it's just not a great time for me where I am with my career and my family."

Democrats in District 10 will get together soon to name a replacement.
