Working to end current policy

Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran says he is working to end current policy during a crackdown on illegal entries into the U.S.

Moran said in a statement Tuesday that the separation of children from parents attempting to enter the U.S. illegally demonstrates that the immigration system is broken.

Moran said he is working with fellow senators and President Donald Trump's administration to "bring the current circumstances to an end."

He said the U.S. can secure its borders "in a moral way" that "honors our values."

Moran added: "Our country must make the well-being of these children a priority."

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran released the following statement regarding the policy of separating families at the border and the need for real immigration reform:

“Our immigration system is broken. This has become more evident in the last week when children are being forcibly separated from their parents. I oppose this policy and am working with my Senate colleagues and administration officials to bring the current circumstances to an end. Our country must make the well-being of these children a priority. We can find appropriate ways to secure our borders and deter illegal immigration in a moral way that honors our values as Americans.”
