KHP releases report on holiday activities

The Kansas Highway Patrol has released their activity report for the Christmas Holiday weekend which ran from 6:00 PM on Friday, December 21, through 11:59 PM on Tuesday, December 25.

The report compares this years activities against the two previous years. 

While DUI arrests were down this year, speeding tickets and seatbelt violations were significantly higher. 
The patrol made 10 DUI arrests compared to 11 last year and 14 in 2016. 1000 speeding tickets were issued this year. 627 were issued last year, and 646 the year previous. 956 speed warnings were issued compared to just over 600 the two years before. 

They issued 17 adult seatbelt warnings, which equals the sum total of the two previous years. Five warnings were issued to teens. Only one was issued in 2106 and in 2017.

Seatbelt violations more than doubled from 48 in 2016 and 2017, at 104. 

The patrol rendered assistance 838 times. Thats slightly more than the 690 last year and 771 times in 2016.
