Large Gang-Related Disturbance in NE Wichita

Four victims shot, some inside their homes on N. Harding

Four people were shot during a gang-related disturbance in the northeast part of Wichita, some of them inside their homes; the incident involving two street gangs happened Saturday afternoon east of 13th & Oliver, in the 1400 block of N. Harding. During the gunfire, multiple homes were hit by bullets in the area.

Officer Charley Davidson read a statement from Wichita police chief Gordon Ramsay: "The W.P.D. will be increasing patrols in the area, allocating resources and working with stakeholders to identify those responsible and involved, to ensure they are held accountable. A continuation of this violence will not be tolerated. We need people who have information about this incident to work with our investigators. Minimal cooperation so far has slowed the investigation. The four people who were shot during the large disturbance included a 66-year-old woman, a 48-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman, and an 18-year-old man; they were all given medical care and released from the hospital.
