Local volunteers help Towanda family in need

Since Wichita police detective Matt Young was diagnosed with cancer, neighbors, businesses and law enforcement have gone out of their way to help him and his family in any way they can. This past weekend, you could see many of the volunteers in Young's back yard building a cedar fence around his yard.

When officers learned Detective Matt Young was battling pancreatic cancer, family and friends wanted to do whatever they could to help. One of the projects that Young had been wanting to do for some time was to build a cedar fence around his yard. This weekend, volunteers banded together to do just that, at no cost to him.  More than 17,000 was raised online in donations for materials, with any extra funds going to the Young family.

Law enforcement, family, and Gill Fencing are some of the many of the people helping making the fencing possible.

Two local businesses also donated meals to those working on the project, and businesses such as Star Lumber and Home Depot also gave towards the effort.
