Governor Laura Kelley has appointed Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell to a special advisory group on transportation. Longwell tells KNSS News the group is meeting Tuesday at the Hughes Metroplex Center in northeast Wichita from 9 to noon, and Wednesday in Dodge City. After collecting information, the group plans to release a long-term transportation plan for the state.

Some economic experts are talking about a possible recession ahead. Wichita was hit hard by the last recession. But Mayor Longwell tells KNSS News things are different now, with diversified industry and long-term contracts in place. He says Wichita was recently named the second-most recession-proof city in the USA.

Longwell commented during Mondays with the Mayor ... on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show ... on KNSS.
