Man arrested after armed assault in southwest Wichita

One man has been arrested after an assault with a handgun in southwest Wichita. According to the Wichita Police Department it happened after 5 a.m. Sunday when police responded to a call about a disturbance with a weapon.  

A 40-year-old man and 50-year-old man were inside a home with 3 juveniles when an unknown suspect approached the home and began banging on the door and shouting.  Then the man fired two shots into the air. 

Officers arrived at the scene and arrested arrested 59-year-old David England of Wichita on five counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal discharge of a firearm. England was taken into custody without further incident. Upon England’s arrest he was found to be in possession of three handguns and marijuana.
