Wichita police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near 51st and North Meridian, south of Valley Center. Wichita Police Captain Lem Moore says the incident started as a domestic disturbance at a home. It involved a family member who was not wanted at the location.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect started to flee and was not cooperative. Then police say the 26-year-old man became "aggressive."

"There was one officer that ended up shooting in that situation," said Capt. Moore.  "The individual at that time was considered critically injured and was taken to a local hospital."

No officers were injured in the incident.
