A man has been found guilty in a drunken driving crash that injured a bicyclist near Derby last year.

Larry Gaines, 35, was found guilty Thursday of aggravated battery with bodily harm and DUI.  This was his 3rd DUI conviction.

Prosecutors say the conviction will put Gaines in prison for around 23 months.

The accident critically injured Carmella James on May 22nd, 2018.  Prosecutors said that if the jury had convicted Gains on the more serious charge of "great bodily harm," that could have included a sentence of up to nearly 11 years in prison.

Sentencing for Gaines was set for Sept. 24.
