November 15, 2016 - 6:43 am
WICHITA, Kan. - A man was killed at a Vietnamese eatery in the southeast part of Wichita.

Early Monday afternoon, police were called to the scene of a shooting at Bi-Da Saigon, east of Harry & Hillside. Officers encountered the suspect, a 20-year-old man, as he was walking out of the business.

Police Lt. Todd Ojile says officers went inside, finding 47-year-old Tan Ban Vu dead from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses indicate the suspect had been at that location for about two hours prior to the shooting, just wandering around the pool hall and not interacting very much with anyone. There were no disturbances, nor arguments, nor fights, when the suspect suddenly pulled out a weapon, shooting and killing the victim.

Police believe the suspect and the victim did not know each other; the suspect has been booked into jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

This is Wichita's 27th homicide of the year.
