31-year-old Charles Shely of Park City has been arrested in the north part of Wichita, after a man was shot in a car on the Canal Route.

At about 10:00 a.m. Monday, a 30-year-old man who had been shot twice showed up at the police sub-station at 21st & Hillside; he was then taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive.

Investigators believe there was a disturbance in a car traveling north-bound on the Canal Route near 21st Street. Three men were riding in a Ford Explorer; during a fight, investigators believe Shely pulled out a handgun and shot the victim twice.

After the shooting, the driver pulled over, and the suspect got out and ran. The suspect was located by a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper in the 2500 block of N. Kansas, and was booked into jail on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
