WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - It's taken about a year of planning and it's almost time for take-off. The McConnell Air Show is just a few weeks away, and organizers say it's an event you won't want to miss.

Almost every aircraft in air force inventory is going to be at this year's air show, that they're calling Frontiers in Flight. They say it's their way to thank the community for supporting airmen.

Frontiers in Flight will feature the KC-135 Stratotanker, B-29 Doc, and  F-35 Lightning II, among many others. The U.S.. Air Force Thunderbirds will also perform, and there's new exhibits planned.

Construction is the main reason its been so long since the last air show. Funding for the air show and completion of the KC-46 projects make it possible this year and they're looking forward to the big weekend.

The air show is September 8th and 9th, a Saturday and Sunday. For more information on times and parking, they encourage you to visit their website at .
