Missouri man dead after crash in Franklin County, Kan.

One man is dead after a traffic accident involving a deer.  According to the Kansas Highway Patrol it happened after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on K-68, east of Ottawa, Kan. in Franklin County.  

A westbound semi-truck struck a deer, locked its brakes, and jackknifed on a bridge.  The trailer was struck by an eastbound pickup truck.  

The driver of the pickup, 47-year-old John Yaple of Harrisonville, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the semi went to a hospital in Ottawa with non-life threatening injuries.
