Murder suspect apprehended in W. Wichita

A stolen, burning car led police investigators to the arrest of a murder suspect in W. Wichita.

The homicide occurred early Sunday evening outside the CitiHost Motel in the 4400 block of S. Broadway. Investigators believe three people in a stolen car were involved in an argument concerning methamphetamines; getting out of the car, 34-year-old Justin Gaston was shot and killed.

This stolen vechile was located engulfed in flames in the 5900 block of S. West Street about 90 minutes after the murder.

That burning car led investigators to arrest a 31-year-old Christopher Kemmerly on Monday afternoon in the 700 block of N. Westridge, west of Central & Zoo Blvd. Kemmerly was charged with first-degree murder and battery/domestic violence.

This is Wichita's third homicide case of the year.
