It was strong winds, not a tornado, that caused damage in southern Sedgwick County early Sunday morning, that the finding from the National Weather Service.

They say extremely strong winds, ranging from 75 to 90 miles per hour, charted a 10-mile path across southern Sedgwick county and the town of Derby around 5 Sunday morning.

There was some damage to an outbuilding near Peck. The winds shoved the building into a nearby home, destroying the outbuilding and damaging the home.

The town of Derby was hit the hardest, however, with some homes and businesses suffering minor roof damage. Throughout town, many trees and tree branches down, all of them laying to the east-northeast, indicative of strong winds.
