New federal charges have been filed against Sedgwick Co. Commissioner Michael O'Donnell

According to documents filed this past Tuesday, O'Donnell is charged with 26 counts, including 23 counts of wire fraud and 3 counts of money laundering.

KSN News reports that the documents allege O'Donnell took money donated to his re-election campaigns and then used the money for himself. The documents say O'Donnell took $10,500 from "Michael for Kansas" and "Michael for Sedgwick County" accounts and had the money wired by electric check to an account he had access to.

O'Donnell was charged in federal court earlier this year with five counts of wire fraud, five counts of bank fraud and two count of money laundering.

He is scheduled to be in court this Friday to request to have those older charges thrown out.
