There is a new plan to revitalize Century II and the River Corridor, but the details are vague.

The plan, announced Friday by the recently-formed Penumbra International LLC, would repurpose Century II into an air and space museum, the old Downtown Library into an aquarium, build a 40-story convention center hotel, and an observation ferris wheel.

Penumbra officials say the money necessary for the projects has been secured, but would not reveal who is investing or where the money is coming from.

Celeste Racette, with Save Century II, expressed some doubt about the plan when speaking with KSN News.

"This is a recently formed company within the last three weeks. They just recently hired a business strategist. They’re throwing all kinds of ideas out there. So, I don’t know if this is really as well thought out as it should be."

Still, Racette hopes the plan will spur competion with the Riverfront Legacy Master Plan.

KSN asked two city councilmen who were in attendance for the media conference, Bryan Frye and Brandon Johnson, about the plan and they declined comment.
