Gov. Laura Kelly is nudging forward with the reopening of Kansas during the COVID-19 pandemic. She says the next step begins on Friday, with what she calls a "slightly modified Phase 2" of the state's reopening plan.

She says theaters may re-open Friday, along with bowling alleys, museums, trampoline parks, arcades, and state-owned casinos -- as long as they comply with state mandated health guidelines.

However, swimming pools, nightclubs, and bars are to remain closed by orders of the state government.

Also to remain shut down: large enterainment venues with capacities of 2,000 or more; fairs; festivals; parades; and summer camps that are not state-licensed childcare programs.
