The case of a suspicious character reported at a store in the northwest part of Wichita has received heavy traffic on social media this week.

Police officer Charley Davidson says investigators late Tuesday afternoon made contact with a 35-year-woman at the Target store in the 2700 block of N. Maize Road. The woman says she was shopping with her 10-year-old daughter when she saw an unknown man taking pictures of them through the clothing racks.

The woman yelled for help, and the man ran off, driving away in a 1980s-model blue two-door Cadillac El Dorado.

Detectives from the Exploited and Missing Child Unit are looking into the incident, trying to determine whether or not a crime was committed. Investigators believe they have identified a person-of-interest associated with this incident.
