Founder facing jail time

For two years, Wichita has been the host of the Officers Down 5K run, meant to honor officers injujred in the line of duty or unable to do their daily jobs as a result of injury or illness.  This year, however, the run will not be held.

Venango County, Pa. court documents show that the founder of the Officers Down 5K, T.J. Burke, is facing a charge of theft, specifically, for failing to deposit money received. Prosecutors say he didn't give the funds raised in the races across the country to the right organizations.

Michael Pasco organizes the Officers Down run. He says the situation puts a bad light on other nonprofits actually doing good work. As he says, "You're NOT supposed to pocket that money!"

Now, he's looking for someone to help him refund $500 to the 88 people who paid - or pay their registration fee in another law enforcement 5K he's holding in September - the "Back the Blue" 5K.

T.J. Burke is still working his way through the court process in Pennsylvania.
