TOPEKA, Kan. (KNSS) - According to numbers released last week from the Kansas Geological Survey, the oil and gas production in Kansas is down.

According to a report from the Kansas Information Network the state of Kansas produced just under 38 million barrels of oil last year. That's the lowest output since 2007 and over ten million barrels below the 2014 production.

Natural gas production is also down in the state, with just under 245 billion cubic feet of gas produced in 2016. This continues a consistent decline in production over the last fifteen years. In the year 2000, Kansas produced over 533 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

As of 2015, Kansas was 10th in oil production and 14th in Natural Gas production in the country, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
