One Kansas town's gas remains stubbornly high, despite falling prices elsewhere

Most Kansans are rejoicing at lower gas prices. However, one town's gas stations may be playing this Christmas season's Grinch, by not lowering their prices at all.

Gas prices all over Wichita are down--the lowest since 2016. The cheaper prices are certainly bringing drivers and businesses who rely on gas for their vehicles a lot of joy by saving thousands of dollars at the pumps.

However, the good cheer apparently only goes so far. In Manhattan, drivers haven't seen a decrease at all.

Driver Jacob Schmidt says that it is, "kind of ridiculous. Gas has been around $2.44 for the past couple of months and it hasn't gone anywhere since."

According to Gas Buddy, the lowest price in Manhattan is $2.44 a gallon.

K-State University economics professor Lance Bachmeier says that many times, local gas stations do not try and compete with other stations in other towns For whatever reason, gas stations in Manhattan as a group haven't decided to bring down their prices.
