An historic building was damaged by fire in downtown Wichita.

It' happened around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the old Occidental Hotel at 2nd and Main.

The building is one of the oldest in the city, built in 1873.  The first floor is currently being used as office space, with the upper 2-floors under renovation.

Fire crews had to use extra caution in battling this blaze.  "The second floor is under renovation, and we don't know where the holes are," said Wichita Fire Chief Tammy Snow.  "So we have to be very careful as we transverse through the building," she added.

Investigators continue to look for a cause for the fire.
