Late night severe storms moved through the Wichita area, causing tree and minor property damage, along with power outages in the county.

A 67 mph wind gust was measured at Eisenhower National Airport at 12:47 a.m. Saturday.

Several trees were downed in Valley Center. High winds caused some damage to Kansas International Dragway near Maize, where an RV and some fencing were knocked over.

At one point, Westar Energy reported over 8,000 customers lost power especially over the northern part of Sedgwick County.  At last check, just over 2400 customers remain without power.

In a statement, Westar says "We are experiencing longer than normal restoration times as a result of the strong winds and lightning. We plan to work around the clock to restore power to our customer's homes and businesses.  We expect all customers to be restored sometime this morning."
