Several trees were downed in Valley Center. 1-4" diameter tree limbs were reported down in west Wichita.  High winds caused some damage to Kansas International Dragway near Maize, where an RV and some fencing were knocked over.

At one point, Westar Energy reported over 8,000 customers lost power especially over the northern part of Sedgwick County.  At last check, around 1100 customers remain without power.

In a statement, Westar says "We are experiencing longer than normal restoration times as a result of the strong winds and lightning. We plan to work around the clock to restore power to our customer's homes and businesses.  We expect all customers to be restored sometime this morning."
