Peaceful protest held in northwest Wichita

June 02, 2020 - 10:43 pm

A protest drew dozens to northwest Wichita Tuesday night to demonstrate against racism and inequality.

KSN News reports that businesses in and around New Market Square, in the area of 21st and Maize shut down early ahead of the protest.

The group said they are frustrated with law enforcement and want to see reform.  But one protester says, the way they want to get their message out, is through love and peace.

"We just want everybody to know there are peaceful protests.  There's nobody looting, there's nobody angry, they're handing out flowers!" he said

The protest began around 6:00 p.m. and people remained in the area until late in the night.
